The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Pilates exercises on the knee pain and its symptoms as well as on motor problems associated with daily living activities (ADL), doing sports, recreation activities, and the quality of life among elderly male athletes.Materials and Methods: The study group consisted of fifteen physical education teachers with mean age (years) 57 ± 6.47, mean height (cm) 176.43 ± 8.49, and mean weight (kg) 76.21 ± 8.81. They all suffered from knee osteoarthritis. The world-known Knee injuries and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score questionnaire was used for data collection. Pilates exercises were carried out under the supervision of a Pilates expert for eight weeks. Obtained data were statistically analyzed through t test at significance level of P ≤ 0.05.Results: No significant difference was observed between pre- and post-test conditions concerning knee pain (P = 0.144) and symptoms (P = 0.367). However, motor functions of daily living (P = 0.001), sport and recreation activities (P = 0.007) and subjects’ quality of life (P = 0.002) were significantly improved subsequent to the termination of the training program.Conclusion: The results showed that Pilates, as a safe and effective exercise method, should be considered in improving motor functions of elderly males with knee osteoarthritis and their quality of lives.Keywords: Knee osteoarthritis, Pilates exercise}, keywords = {}, title_fa = {تأثیر یک دوره تمرینات پیلاتس بر استئوآرتریت زانوی مردان ورزشکار سالمند}, abstract_fa = {مقدمه: امروزه شرکت در فعالیت بدنی در پیش‌گیری از بیماری‌های مزمنی همچون استئوآرتریت پیشنهاد می‌شود. هدف پژوهش حاضر، بررسی تأثیر یک دوره تمرینات پیلاتس بر شدت درد زانو، میزان علایم و مشکلات عملکرد حرکتی در فعالیت‌های روزانه، ورزشی، تفریحی و کیفیت زندگی مردان ورزشکار سالمند بود.مواد و روش‌ها: 15 معلم تربیت بدنی مبتلا به استئوآرتریت زانو با میانگین و انحراف استاندارد سن 47/6 ± 57 سال، قد 49/8 ± 43/176 سانتی‌متر، وزن 81/8 ± 21/76 کیلوگرم به صورت هدفمند، به عنوان آزمودنی انتخاب شدند. برای جمع‌آوری داده‌ها از پرسش‌نامه جهانی و بومی‌سازی شده پیامد صدمات زانو و استئوآرتریت استفاده شد. نمونه‌ها تمرینات پیلاتس را به مدت 8 هفته زیر نظر متخصص پیلاتس انجام دادند. برای تجزیه و تحلیل داده‌ها از Correlated t-test در سطح معنی‌داری استفاده گردید (05/0 < P). یافته‌ها: بین پیش تا پس‌آزمون میانگین شدت درد زانو (144/0 = P) و همچنین میزان علایم (367/0 = P) تفاوت معنی‌داری وجود نداشت، در حالی که عملکرد حرکتی در فعالیت‌های روزانه (001/0 = P)، ورزشی، تفریحی (007/0 = P) و کیفیت زندگی (002/0 = P) پس از اجرای پروتکل به میزان معنی‌داری بهبود یافته بود.نتیجه گیری: نتایج نشان داد که تمرینات پیلاتس می‌تواند به عنوان یک روش تمرینی ایمن و مؤثر در بهبود عملکرد و کیفیت زندگی مردان سالمند دارای استئوآرتریت زانو مورد توجه قرار گیرد.کلید واژه‌ها: استئوآرتریت زانو، تمرینات پیلاتس}, keywords_fa = {}, url = {https://jrrs.mui.ac.ir/article_16488.html}, eprint = {https://jrrs.mui.ac.ir/article_16488_9f8ec9ecb4119581c48fdffae735f47c.pdf} }
